What to Expect

People come to Acker Chiropractic for many different reasons. Some are dealing with pain or discomfort that has made everyday activities more difficult, while others are looking for a proactive approach to maintaining their mobility, spinal health, and overall wellness. Your first visit begins with a conversation. We’ll talk about your health history, your current concerns, and what you’d like to accomplish through chiropractic care. Most importantly, we’ll listen. Understanding how you’re feeling and how your symptoms are affecting your daily life helps us determine the best approach for you.

Your Examination

We’ll perform a thorough examination that may include evaluating your posture, movement, range of motion, and areas of discomfort. We will also carefully palpate your spine to identify areas where joints may not be moving properly or may be out of alignment. We’ll explain our findings to you and answer any questions you may have. In many cases, we can determine what’s happening through our examination, palpation, and orthopedic and neurological testing. If X-rays are necessary, we can refer you to an appropriate imaging facility to obtain a closer look at your spine. X-rays aren’t required for every patient and are recommended only when they are clinically appropriate and helpful in determining the best course of care.

Your First Treatment

If we determine that chiropractic care is appropriate and that an adjustment is safe for you, you may receive your first chiropractic adjustment during your initial visit.  A typical treatment at Acker Chiropractic may begin with approximately 15 minutes on a massage chair or traction table to help relax the muscles and prepare your body for treatment. This may be followed by a chiropractic adjustment and additional therapies when appropriate. We also incorporate stretching and strengthening exercises into many of our treatment plans. We believe that healthy movement involves more than simply adjusting the joints. When muscles and soft tissues remain tight or weak, they can continue to place stress on the joints and contribute to recurring problems. That’s why our approach addresses both the joints and the surrounding muscles and soft tissues.

Care Designed Around You

Every patient is different, and we don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Our goal is to understand what’s contributing to your discomfort and develop a care plan based on your individual needs, condition, and goals.

Whether you’re seeking relief from pain, recovering from an injury, or looking to be proactive about your spinal health and overall wellness, we’re here to help you move better, feel better, and get back to the activities you enjoy.

Our goal is simple: to provide thoughtful, personalized care that helps you feel better and stay that way.Have questions about your first visit? Give Acker Chiropractic a call at (760) 770-9133. We look forward to meeting you and helping you take the next step toward better health.
